Artificial Intelligence - Project 2

In my research for this paper the one thing that stood out was the amount of ‘facts’ that were actually predictions, and how many of these ‘facts’ contradicted each other between experts. Some believe we will have super AI in the next 20 years, others believe we won’t see one this century. A lot of websites quoted AI adoption facts from a company called Gartner who’d done some research into the future of AI. These facts were along the lines of ‘85% of customer interactions will be managed without a human by 2020’ , which while interesting as a prediction/extrapolation of the current state of AI is by no means a true fact as it won’t be verifiable for some time.

I chose to instead present three main information segments. The first is on the current state of the AI industry and how that is driving the technology forward (source: www.cbinsights.com/blog/artificial-intelligence-startup-f…). The second was to present one of the more likely, or at least more discussed, scenarios for the future and how that could occur. The final segment was to present the uncertainty that still surrounds the future of AI, as no-one really knows what is going to come and there is a lot of fear-mongering and misinformation floating around. To support this I included an arrow at the end of the path through the infographic which shows the next step in AI is beyond our view.
